The city has two different lawsuits
“We learned in 2011 that what had been built and we had spent hundreds of millions of dollars on we couldn't use and it would have to be replaced,” said Anchorage assistant attorney Robert Owens.
The city has two different lawsuits against what are now five different groups, including a federal agency. The first lawsuit was filed in March of 2013 against private companies ICRC, PND Engineers, CH2MHill.
The municipality was recently authorized to add a fourth company - GeoEngineers, said Owens, who was unsure whether the company had been served with legal papers.
The second lawsuit was filed in February earlier this year in Washington, DC against MARAD.
The city is “seeking in excess of $300 million in the lawsuits,” Owens said.
